  1. On 4 July 2023, Indian men’s football team (also known as ‘Blue Tigers’) emerged victorious against Kuwait 5-4 in a thrilling penalty shootout in the final, securing the SAFF Bangabandhu Championship 2023 title at Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru, Karnataka.  
  2. The Kerala State Cabinet has approved the appointment of V Venu as the next Chief Secretary and Sheikh Darvesh Saheb as the next State Police Chief.
  3. The Central Government has started a new relief scheme under the ‘Mission Vatsalya’ scheme in relation to the abandonment of the families of minor girls who are victims of rape when they become pregnant.
  4. State Bank of India, the country’s largest lender, has announced the appointment of Kameshwar Rao Kodavanti as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective from 1 July, 2023.  
  5. Young spin bowler Shreyanka Patil has made history by becoming the first Indian cricketer to be signed for the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL).
  6.   12. The Greater Chennai City Police (GCP) launched first-of-its-kind in the country, ‘Police Drone Unit’ for aerial surveillance over vast areas and quick detection of criminal activities.
  13. National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) India and the South Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organization (SARADO) joined forces through a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening regional cooperation in anti-doping efforts.
  14. Bank of India has launched a ‘Centralized Pool Buy-Out and Co-Lending Cell’ to boost priority sector lending.

  16. Iran has officially become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) during an India-hosted virtual summit of the influential grouping.
